The Oliver Breaks Ground in Yorktown
YORKTOWN, IN – Construction is officially underway on The Oliver in downtown Yorktown. Town officials, Rebar Development, and project partners broke ground on the $6 million mixed-use project adjacent to the new Civic Green late Friday afternoon. An important part of the Town of Yorktown’s Downtown Redevelopment Plan, The Oliver brings housing as well as retail, office, and restaurant space to the area.
“When we first started these redevelopment efforts seven years ago, one of the biggest desires we heard from Yorktown residents was to create a social and economic hub for the town. The Oliver is a tremendous asset in realizing this goal,” said Pete Olson, town manager of Yorktown.
Located across the newly completed Civic Green from Yorktown Town Hall, The Oliver overlooks Morrow’s Meadow and reconstructed Canal Street. The project includes 26 modern apartment homes on the top two floors and more than 8,000 square feet of commercial and amenity space on the first floor. Plans for the development include a restaurant with outdoor seating, unique, all-inclusive retail and office studios, and a surface parking lot for residents and tenants.
“We are grateful for our partnership with the Town of Yorktown,” said Shelby Bowen, President of Rebar Development. “The Oliver will be a big piece of welcoming people who want to live, work and have fun in downtown Yorktown. We can’t wait to welcome residents and businesses to The Oliver next spring.”
Named after the founder of Yorktown, Oliver Hampton Smith, The Oliver apartment homes will feature spacious, open-concept floor plans with gourmet kitchens, stylish fixtures, energy efficient appliances, in-unit washer and dryer, and balconies that overlook the Civic Green and Morrow’s Meadow. The community also offers high-end building amenities that help balance a live-work lifestyle, including a coworking lounge and conference room, pet washing station, indoor bike storage and shared clubhouse room with kitchen.
The first floor at The Oliver includes office suites, micro-retail space with street-facing entrances, and a restaurant space with outdoor dining. Perfect for small business owners, solo entrepreneurs or freelancers, the office suite and micro-retail tenants will have access to shared community amenities and flexible leasing options.
“The Oliver helps to establish downtown Yorktown as a destination,” Olson said. “Situated next to Civic Green, residents of the building will be able to easily enjoy social programs and events. Likewise, attendees to Civic Green events will be able to easily enjoy the amenities that the first-floor businesses and restaurants in The Oliver have to offer.”
The Oliver is scheduled for completion in the summer of 2022 with prelease activities kicking off next spring. For project updates and leasing information, please visit www.TheOliverYorktown.com or follow us at @TheOliverApts on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram.
